Construction of the Avra WRFAvra Valley 4.0 MGD Water Reclamation Facility Completed

The Avra Valley 4 MGD WRF was completed in June 2009, on schedule and on budget. The project was a joint effort between Sundt, Inc.; Kennedy/Jenks Consultants; Malcolm Pirnie; and RWRD. The total project cost was $56 million, and the entire project was completed in 18 months.

ROMP Plant InterconnectInterconnect receives ARRA (Stimulus) Funding - May 2009

RWRD will be among the first water sector agencies in the State of Arizona to receive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. RWRD will receive $10 million from the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA), which includes $8 million in low-interest rate loans, and an additional $2 million in ARRA principal forgiveness funds. Principal forgiveness funds do not have to be repaid. The ARRA and WIFA funding will save Pima County residents nearly $3.4 million in construction costs for the Plant Interconnect Project which is the first project in the state-mandated Regional Optimization Master Plan (ROMP).
