Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department New Sewer Connection Fee Charges

The Pima County Board of Supervisors adopted a new Wastewater Connection Fee methodology based on water meter size at the May 15, 2012 meeting. The ordinance will go into effect on July 1, 2012, along with a new rate structure associated with water meter size.

Among other actions, the Board of Supervisors directed the Department to review and develop a recommendation for a standard connection fee credit or refund procedure for projects seeking to advance after May 14th, but prior to the effective date of the ordinance fee change. The Department will be recommending to the Board of Supervisors that 100% of the difference between any Fixture Unit Equivalent derived fee paid during this interim period and the future connection fee based on water meter size be offered as a refund. If accepted by the Board of Supervisors, the refund procedure will be implemented after the ordinance becomes effective on July 1, 2012. The Department has not made a decision concerning potential connection fee refunds or credits covering any period prior to May 15, 2012. The County authority to charge connection fees is derived from A.R.S. § 11-264.
