Advisory Committee & Public Meetings

The Pima County Redistricting Advisory Committee concluded its work by recommending a revised district map to the Board of Supervisors on July 14, 2011. This map was then transmitted to the Board. Since the conclusion of the Committee, some concerns were raised in Green Valley regarding the Committee's recommended map that proposed to move 3 precincts in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area from District 4 to District 3. Staff developed an alternative map based on the Committee recommended map, that kept those 3 precincts in District 4. The Board met on September 6, 2011, tentatively approved the amended committee map developed by staff, and directed that the map be placed on the Board's September 13, 2011 agenda for final approval. The Board then approved the map on September 13, 2011.

The State Independent Redistricting Committee approved congressional and legislative lines on January 17, 2012. These lines split 39 precincts and impacted the Board of Supervisors' district boundaries in 6 locations. Staff is recommending that the Board of Supervisors, at their February 21, 2011 meeting, adopt adjustments to their district boundaries and to precincts so that the congressional, legislative and Board lines will all follow precinct boundaries.
