LEED Construction Seminar is a Hit with Contractors We are pleased to report that in response to last quarter's article and other publicity efforts, over 70 members of the contracting community attended the Jackson Employment Center LEED Construction Seminar held in May. What a great turnout! Kudos to Phil Swaim and his team from Swaim Associates, Ltd., and Rich Michal from the local chapter of the US Green Building Council for making this an interesting and informative seminar. Thank you to all who participated for making this seminar a success! The Jackson Employment Center is the County's first LEED certified construction project. This building will be a 6,000 square foot single story building located on the Southeast corner of 26th Street and 3rd Avenue in South Tucson. The proposed construction budget is approximately $1.3 Million. Originally this project was expected to be bid for construction in May 2008. The date for release of the solicitation now is anticipated to be late June/early July. Please check the Design and Construction website at http://www.pima.gov/procure/ifbrfp-dc.htm or the Daily Territorial Newspaper for publication of the solicitation.
