Employee Spotlight: Brenda Wilson
by Karen Dillingham

Brenda Wilson - CCOBrenda Wilson has been a Commodity/Contracts Officer with Pima County Procurement since February of 2005. I've always found Brenda to be gracious, kind and helpful. She has such a positive inner glow that shows in everything she does. When I asked Brenda for a picture, she offered to send me a photo of her riding a Yamaha Quad. This is just one of the many hobbies Brenda shares with her husband and son. I asked Brenda some questions so that our readers may get to know her better:

Q. What are the typical commodities that you purchase for Pima County?

A. Building maintenance and repair supplies and services. Electrical items and services. Animals and related products and services. Educational products and services.

Q. What do you enjoy most about your job and what do you find most challenging?

A. People and People! I enjoy working with people; however, sometimes communicating with people can be a challenge for me.

Q. Please tell us a little-known but interesting fact about yourself.

A. I lived in the country of India for three years while my Dad worked for Davy McKee on the Khetri Copper Project.

Q. Do you belong to any professional organizations?

A. ISM (Institute for Supply Management) and NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing)

Q. What do you enjoy doing on your time off?

A.Spending time with family and friends, camping, riding my Yamaha ATV, reading, and shopping.

Q. Where did you grow up?

A. I grew up in what's known as the “Tri-Community” (Oracle, San Manuel, and Mammoth)…Miner Country!

Q. Favorite movie?

A. Giant (with Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor)…a classic!

Q. Okay, now the most important question...What was on your grade school lunch box?

A. The Land of the Giants (an old TV show).

Land of the Giants brings back some great memories! I hope you enjoyed our Employee Spotlight. Our goal is to let our vendors as well as our fellow Pima County employees get to know our staff. We encourage your procurement questions and strive to offer the best in customer service to vendors as well as our using departments.
