Ask a CCO

Melissa Hala'ufia, Commodities/Contracts Officer for Design and Construction, has been with Pima County Procurement since 2004. In this issue, we asked Melissa to answer some vendor questions. Q: Where can I see the current solicitations for Pima County? A. Pima County publishes solicitations on our website and in the Daily Territorial Newspaper. Q. How do I get on the bidders list for upcoming projects? A. Pima County does not maintain a bidders list. All firms meeting the qualification standards of any particular solicitation may submit a bid or proposal subject to the requirements of that solicitation. All firms and vendors are encouraged to register as a vendor with Pima County, but this is not a pre-requisite to respond to a solicitation. Q. Where can I obtain bidding documents, plans and specifications? A. Some solicitations are posted in their entirety on the Procurement website. Solicitations containing architectural/engineering plans or drawings can be obtained from Reproductions, Inc. (520) 622-7747. A deposit is required to obtain bidding documents and plans. The amount of the deposit is noted in the posted solicitation. Deposits are accepted by check. Planholders can receive their deposit checks back by returning bidding documents, specifications and plans to Reproductions, Inc. according to the time frame indicated in the solicitation.
Q. Does Pima County accept construction bids from material suppliers or subcontractors? A. For construction services bids, Pima County accepts bids from only general contractors. Also, only general contractors may submit substitution requests on construction services bids. If you are a material supplier or a subcontractor and are interested in a construction project, you can obtain the list of general contractors who have demonstrated interest in the project by contacting Reproductions, Inc at (520) 622-7747 and requesting a planholders list. You then can contact the general contractors regarding bidding opportunities. |
