| Local Event Connects Businesses with Governmental Agencies
On November 14, 2008, we had the first annual reverse vendor trade show "Partner for Success" sponsored by the Copper Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing. This half day function was an opportunity for businesses to meet, greet and connect with governmental purchasing professionals from various Southern Arizona Governmental Agencies. The Copper Chapter members included representatives from the following agencies: Amphitheater Public Schools, Arizona Department of Economic Security, Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and Blind, Catalina Foothills School District, City of Sierra Vista, City of Tucson, Cochise County, Marana Unified School District, Northwest Fire/Rescue District, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Pima Community College, Pima County, Santa Cruz County, Sun Tran, Sunnyside School District, Superior Court in Pima County, Town of Marana, Town of Oro Valley, Tucson International Airport Authority, Tucson Unified School District, University of Arizona and Vail School District.
All proceeds from the show benefited the NIGP Copper Chapter scholarship fund. Two seminars were held for businesses: "Alternative Construction Methods" (John Carter representing Pima County presented an abridged version of his paper entitled Transparency in APDM Evaluations) and "Understanding the RFP Process."
