By far the best way to be prepared for any emergency is to learn everything you can about the wide variety of topics that relate to emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.

As a citizen of Pima County and any of the underlying cities and towns, you can help prepare yourself by taking Community Emergency Response Team and Red Cross trainings on AED/CPR and First Aid. See the Are You Ready? tab for information on these trainings and much more.

If you are an employee or volunteer with any type of emergency response or emergency management organization there are a wide range of courses available for you to expand your knowledge base.

There are also some courses that are only available in the classroom. Many of these courses are offered within Arizona, some in Tucson. Normally, these courses are offered for free. Some classroom courses are held exclusively at the Emergency Management Institute. You will need to apply for enrolment; for most courses you will need to be associated with an appropriate organization or employed in an appropriate field. Normally, all expenses for these resident courses, except for food expenses, are covered by FEMA.
