After School Program

Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation offers after school recreation programs at several of its community centers. The program will run from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. at most locations.

The after school program is for children ages 5-13. 5-year-olds must be enrolled in elementary school. Activities include homework help, reading program, group games, sports, arts and crafts, board and table games, special events, and more. All participants must be registered in the program. Enrollment is limited. Registration is by lottery (computer random selection) except for those centers that are undersubscribed. Applications are available at the centers. Applicants will be notified of their status the week following lottery registration.

The program is free except for some special events.

This program is under review and subject to change. Please check back for the latest information.

Registration

Lottery System
The Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department has determined that the best way to ensure a fair and equal system of registration for youth programs is with a lottery system. This includes the After School Recreation Program, the Summer Recreation Program and the T.O.T.S. Program. All program registrations will be selected by lottery (computerized random selection) unless the program is undersubscribed.

Lottery applications will be available at the centers for a designated one week period during which parents or guardians may go to the center, complete the application and turn it in to the center coordinator. The lottery will be held the following week and applicants will be notified of their status.

For more information on the lottery system, please contact the center nearest you.
