Types of Cases

 

Court appointed cases fall under the following categories:

Felony Offenses:

A serious criminal charge that is potentially punishable by a sentence that may range from a year in the state penal system up to the death sentence, and fines up to $150,000 plus surcharges.

Appeals/Post Conviction Relief Hearings:

A post verdict legal proceeding brought before a higher Court for rehearing. An appeal involves proceedings filed after conviction and heard by the Arizona Supreme Court or Court of Appeals.

Extradition Hearings:

The surrender of an alleged criminal usually under the provisions of a treaty or State Statute by one State or other Authority to another having jurisdiction to try to charge.

Probation Revocations:

A hearing to determine if an individual has violated probation resulting in the possibility that probation will be revoked, changed, or rescinded.
