Short Term Disability and Long Term Care

AFLAC is available to Pima County Employees for Short Term Disability and Long Term Care. These supplemental benefits are 100% Employee funded.

Personal Disability Income Protector (Short-Term Disability)

Disability income insurance, which complements health insurance, can replace lost income. At age 40, the average worker faces only a 14% chance of dying before age 65 but a 21% chance of being disabled for 90 days or more! This plan provides you an income if you become disabled due to sickness or an off-the-job injury.

Tailor this plan to fit your financial security needs with choices of:

Monthly Benefits: $500 to $5,000 (subject to income requirements)
Benefit Periods: 3, 6, 12 or 24 months
Elimination Periods (waiting period): This is the number of days you will wait before receiving benefits. (Off-the-Job Accident/Sickness)
     o Choices: 0/7, 0/14, 7/14, 0/30, 30/30, 60/60,
     90/90, 180/180
Age Groups: 18 – 49 50 – 64
Maternity: Covers maternity leave after the policy has been in force for 10 months or more. Complications of pregnancy are covered after chosen sickness elimination period
Premiums: Based on Age, Wage, Choice of Benefit Period, and Elimination Period
Fully Portable at payroll rates
Guaranteed renewable until age 70


Personal Long Term Care

Long-term care insurance helps provide financial support at any age, if a chronic condition incapacitates you or your spouse. This may be due to injury, illness, or the normal aging process.

Approximately 36% of males and 50% of females eventually need long-term care. About 80% of Americans live past age 65, with a life expectancy of another 15 years for men and 19 years for women. AFLAC is the first company to pay a cash benefit when first diagnosed as chronically ill and require Long-term care services.

First Occurrence Benefit: $2,400 to $6,000
Nursing Home Daily Benefit: $80 to $200 for either 3yr, 5yr or lifetime stay
Home Care Benefit: for incurred charges $40 to $100 daily: 400 or 500 visits

Optional Nonforfeiture Rider

AFLAC representatives will be available at all Open Enrollment Fairs to answer questions, help calculate rates, offer assistance with the completion of enrollment packets .

The application packet must be submitted in its entirety to you Departmental Benefits Representative.
