Learn about Prizes/Rewards

Walking is one of the easiest actions you can take to improve your health. Join other Pima County employees to walk at or near your worksite on a regular basis! Plus, you can earn a new reward every quarter when you participate in at least 12 Walking Club Walks.

Off-site Walking Club Schedule

Employee Wellness also invites you to participate in or lead an off-site Walking Club that meets at a public location that is easily accessible to all employees and of potential interest to other employees, such as a public park, walking trail or track or indoor walking arena. Please contact the Champion if you plan to participate in a particular Off-site Walking Club.

Note: Off-site Walking Clubs are scheduled on a two-month trial basis. If other County employees do not participate in the Walking Club on a regular basis, the club will be automatically discontinued. New Off-site Walking Club registration forms must be submitted by the 10th of the month prior to their starting month.

Prizes/Rewards

Walking Club T-shirt
All Walking Club participants may earn a special Walking Club t-shirt after their first 20 Walking Club walks! Starting July 1, 2011 based on monthly participation tracking sheets, Employee Wellness will notify* you when you've earned your t-shirt. (One t-shirt per person.)

If you have taken qualifying walks prior to July 1, please send in your Walking Club T-shirt certificate in July to receive credit for your walks.

Quarterly Rewards Program
Each quarter, Walking Club participants may earn a new reward for participating in at least 12 Walking Club Walks. Starting July 1, based on monthly participation tracking sheets, Employee Wellness will notify* you when you've earned your reward. (one reward per person, per quarter)

  1. Reward for Jan-Mar: $5 Gift Card
  2. Reward for Apr-Jun: $5 Gift Card
  3. Reward for Jul-Sep: $5 Gift Card
  4. Reward for Oct-Dec: $5 Gift Card

* Employee Wellness will notify you using the e-mail address you've indicated in ADP / HR Benefits Solution (the HR On-line Benefits system). If you do not have a valid e-mail address on file, please log-in and enter one, preferably under "work e-mail."

Lead a Walking Club - Become a Walking Club Champion

It's easy, fun and rewarding to be a Walking Club Champion!

• Choose a day of the week (or more), time and length (at least 20 minutes) for your weekly walk(s).

• Submit a Worksite Walking Club Champion Registration Form or Off-site Walking Club Champion Registration Form.

• Start leading your worksite walks the following week or month; or your off-site walks the following month. We'll post the walk on the website, but you'll advertise it in your area with flyers that we send to you. At each walk you'll use a sign-in / monthly participation tracking sheet.

Walking Club Champions earn recognition and rewards including:

• Walking Club t-shirt and water bottle*
• $5 gift card each full month that you lead walks

• Leadership skills and recognition as a volunteer
• A healthier workday every walk day!

Walking at the TCC

The Tucson Convention Center Arena downtown is available for indoor walking through the City of Tucson's Employee Wellness program. Hours are 11 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Use the arena entrance across from the ticket windows. One loop around the arena is .19 miles; a one mile walk is approximately 5 laps.

Occasionally the arena is not open during special event times. If you would like to receive an e-mail when we are notified of closures, please e-mail wellness and ask to be added to the TCC closure notification list.

NOTICE: Please make sure to only walk in the Arena. The other TCC buildings are off-limit to lunchtime walking.

Start! is the American Heart Association’s groundbreaking national campaign that calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and health to live longer, heart-healthy lives through walking. Promoting physical activity through workplace walking programs can help employees reduce their risk for heart disease and stroke and lead longer, stronger, healthier lives.

MyStart! Online is a free tool that can help you make positive lifestyle changes through exercise and better eating. Track your daily physical activity and dietary intake, and get weekly summaries of your progress. Through MyStart! Online you can also create your own walking maps, learn about heart health, and find healthy recipes.
