The Information Technology Department of Pima County has an opening for the position of Wireless Services Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning and supervising the installation, maintenance and repair of the voice and data wireless communication technology environment.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical/trade school in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology or other closely related field and two years of experience in enterprise hardware and software installation, telecommunications or wireless communication systems, configuration and support, or a combination of experience in two or more of these areas, plus one year of lead/supervisory experience in an Information System (IS) setting (including telecommunications and/or wireless communications). (Additional relevant education from an accredited college, university or technical/trade school may be substituted for up to one year of the general experience requirement. SHERIFF’S 9-1-1 DISPATCHER - 3527

Minimum Qualifications: Eighteen (18) months of experience as a dispatcher receiving and dispatching law enforcement emergency and non-emergency calls. OR Successful completion of the Public Safety Tele-Communicator OR Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Dispatcher Trainee Program. OR One year of experience with Pima County as a Public Safety 9-1-1 Communicator OR Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Call Taker.
**The Pima County Trainee Program: Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for a Trainee position. All Trainees must meet the minimum qualifications by the end of the training period. The Pima County Trainee Program provides training related to the basic knowledge, skills and abilities required by the classification to enable the Trainee to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification within the specified time limits of the program. The Trainee Program lasts a minimum of six (6) months and maximum of eighteen (18) months. During the training period, the incumbent is paid at 5 percent less than the entry level of grade 38. For specific details, refer to the Pima County Trainee Program, available at the Human Resources Department.
Licenses and Certifications: All positions require attaining and maintaining access certification by the Sheriff’s Department, State and Federal agencies for criminal history databases and associated communications systems. Failure to obtain/maintain such certifications may be grounds for termination.
Special Notice Items: All positions, including those filled as Trainee appointments, require the ability to type at a rate of at least 35 words-per-minute (wpm) at the time of appointment. [A typing certificate from an accredited agency, less than one (1) year old, will be accepted as proof of proficiency; additional testing may be required by the department at the time of applicant screening to validate the required ability.] All positions require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by law enforcement agencies, due to need for access to law enforcement facilities, records and communications systems.
