Law Day 2008: The Rule of Law

Law Day 2008 at Pima County Superior Court featured a look at The Rule of Law: Foundation for Communities of Opportunity and Equity from a couple of perspectives. First was the perspective of refugees who fled their native lands because the lack of rule of law meant their rights as citizens and members of society were not being respected. Second was from the perspective of members of the bench at superior court.

by the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association (AWLA).

Comm. Dardis Wins Foundation of
Justice Award
Hon. Frederic Dardis
Hon. Frederic Dardis, a commissioner assigned to the Family Law Bench at Pima County Superior Court, has been named the winner of the 2009 recipient of the Foundation for Justice Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education. The award will be given June 19 in conjunction with the annual convention for the State Bar of Arizona at Westin La Paloma in Tucson.

Under Judge Warner's leadership, the Pima County Juvenile Court was designated as one of only nine Model Juvenile Courts in the nation. As the founder of the Mental Health Specialty Court, she presides over treatment for and assistance with defendants suffering from mental illnesses. At the end of April, the University of Arizona Law College Association (LCA) presented Judge Warner with the group's public service award.
