Pima County Named StormReady® Community
NOAA’s National Weather Service recognized Pima County as StormReady® during the Pima County Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Tue., Oct. 21. National Weather Service personnel will presented a recognition letter and StormReady® road signs to county officials during a public ceremony. Pima County, Ariz., has fulfilled rigorous guidelines established by the StormReady® Advisory Board for their disaster preparedness and severe weather educational activities.
Among those honored were Suzanne Shields, Director of Regional Flood Control District;
Priscilla Cornelio, Director of the Department of Transportation;
Jeff Guthrie, Acting Emergency Manager; and Tim Seimsen, Volunteer Resources Coordinator.

Department of Community Development and Neighborhood Conservation Honored
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 23, 2008) - The National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED), honored several counties at the 33rd Annual Conference and Training in Atlanta, Georgia for their achievements in five categories in the field of housing and community development.
NACCED presented the Innovation Award of Excellence to Pima County, AZ Department of Community Development and Neighborhood Conservation for its Foreclosure Prevention Coalition Workbook to Betty Villegas and Martha Martin. Accepting the award was Gary Bachman.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 23, 2008) - The National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED) announced the nomination of Gary Bachman of Pima County, Arizona as its President.
