What: Each month the volunteer weed warriors work to eradicate buffelgrass and other exotic weeds. The Wednesday work parties are for the hardiest weed warriors and may require hiking in to infested areas and pulling buffelgrass on steep slopes. These are also some of the most precious and fragile habitats seriously impacted by buffelgrass invasions. Coordinators will provide instruction on plant identification and proper techniques for removal. This is strenuous work and volunteers need to be in very good physical condition. Gloves and digging bars provided. Bring water and snacks; a hat, sunscreen and sturdy shoes. Call for meeting location.

What: Birds with an Attitude by Ruth Canada presents birds with human like behaviors displaying their delights and struggles in their environment. The artwork media ranges from watercolor to acrylic in brilliant to deep rich colors.

Tucson’s River of Words 2008 Traveling Exhibit
What: Tucson’s River of Words is more than a youth poetry and art contest, it is a cycle of activities each building upon the next. The vibrant images and lyrical poems from the 2008 Tucson’s River of Words are expressions of the durable connections to nature that these young artists share.
Date: January 6 – March 24.
Time: Monday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Wake Up with the Birds
What: Desert meets water at this unique oasis park, providing a unique crossroads for migratory and resident birds, some of which are unique to southeastern Arizona. Spot cardinals, thrashers, hummingbirds, songbirds and raptors nestled among the mesquites and palms. Binoculars are available for use during the walk or bring your own.
Date: Every Tuesday in March.
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
