ECAP 2008-2009
The 2008-2009 ECAP Campaign will begin on September 17, 2008, with a training workshop and luncheon for the solicitors at The Manning House. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Go for Gold,” in reference to the summer Olympics. A gold award is also presented to departments attaining a certain level of giving during the campaign.
So far, 204 solicitors have been designated by the departments and historically, most will attend the kick off event. The training workshop should be attended by all solicitors as information or processes sometimes change with each campaign.
Bud Foster, News Anchor, Channel 13, will be a featured guest speaker, along with Coach Peter Hughes, Head Coach Wheelchair Track and Juniors Active in Wheelchair Sports (JAWS), in the Disability Resource Center at the University of Arizona. Entertainment will be provided by children from one of our ECAP agencies, Arts for All, Inc., and kids from our Community Resources youth program.
You may recall last year’s campaign was a record breaking year for PC employees. Today’s economic situation calls for even more assistance for those that are in need. The unwavering generosity of County employees will continue to demonstrate the commitment to the community in which we live.
I challenge each of us to give at least 50 cents more than last year. The final total from that campaign was almost half a million dollars. If each of us give 50 cents more this year, last year’s campaign total would definitely be exceeded.
Go for Gold!!!
