Green Pueblo Map Offers Residents
the Chance to “Make Your Mark”
A unique partnership between Pima County, the City of Tucson, and The Inner Connection is launching a first-of-its-kind map for the greater Tucson area: The Green Pueblo Map.

The Green Pueblo Map is a celebration of all the assets that make our region sustainable. This special map promises to offer a new perspective on the greater Tucson area with the help of all of us who live, work and play here. Residents and visitors of the greater Tucson area are invited to “make your mark” on the map by nominating the sites that showcase the best of the region’s cultural, social, and environmentally sustainable features – from community gardens and recycling centers to favorite recreation spots and historical sites.

To join the Green Pueblo mapmaking team, individuals can visit www.GreenPuebloMap.org and nominate sites that contribute to our region’s livability and sustainability. Sites can be nominated in one of 38 categories, or new categories may be suggested.

Teachers, educators and youth groups are encouraged to visit the “Green Explorers” section of the website and learn about special mapping opportunities. The Green Explorers program will bring the green mapmaking process to classrooms and libraries throughout Pima County.

The Green Pueblo Map will be a resource for residents, students, visitors, businesses, and others seeking to learn about the multitude of sustainability assets the greater Tucson area has to offer, and how to make greener, more sustainable lifestyle choices. The map will be continually updated online and a printed version of the map will be available in the future.

The locally-created Green Pueblo Map is part of the growing international Green Map movement. Today, there are over 500 Green Maps completed, or in process, in 54 countries around the world. For more information about the international Green Map network, visit www.GreenMap.org.

When you sign up and enter your workplace information in the on-line PAG Rideshare Registration form, you are automatically recognized as a team member of your workplace. Your County facility should be listed, but if it’s not, you are able to enter your work site location. Every Pima County work site counts as part of the Pima County team. Each week, PAG will post a summary report regarding how many miles teams are riding and who is taking the most trips. The top five businesses in each small, medium, and large-sized category will receive a certificate designating them as a bike-friendly business.
