News StoriesECAP is Going Green Beginning this fiscal year, the Pima County Employees Combined Appeal Program (ECAP) is jumping on the environmental bandwagon and going ‘green’. By going ‘green’ ECAP will cut down on the amount of paper used for the annual campaign and also keep costs lower as the county is tightening up its belt to meet recent budgetary constraints. This year we will be using more of our online resources to communicate the ECAP campaign to Pima County employees. The ECAP 2009-10 campaign begins with the kickoff event on September 17 and will run through October 30. October 30 is the date that all ECAP envelopes / materials must be submitted to Shelley Rose, ECAP Chair. Solicitor invitations for the annual kickoff event were sent via email this year eliminating the need to print the invitations and send them interoffice mail. Department solicitors will still receive hard copies of the training manuals, but will also have access to this information online. The ECAP Agency Directories will be available online for anyone who wants information on the participating ECAP agencies. Additionally, a link to the participating agencies will be provided on the ECAP webpage so that employees can be provided more in-depth knowledge of the agency they wish to donate their ECAP dollars to.
ECAP is Recruiting New Members The Pima County Employees Combined Appeal Program (ECAP) is recruiting a few good men and women to serve on the Steering Committee. As a Steering Committee member, you will help plan the annual ECAP fundraising campaign. That’s where the fun begins. Using your skills as a party planner, you would work with the committee to plan the Kickoff and Appreciation Luncheon events. But the fun doesn’t stop there. You will use your talents to assist with training the ECAP solicitors, secure entertainment and speakers for the two annual events, and many other cool responsibilities. Another exciting benefit is that you have the opportunity to give back to the community. ECAP donations raised by Pima County employees help more than 275 member agencies that are funded by ECAP contributions. These include social service agencies that provide assistance to youth and seniors, combat hunger, work with domestic abuse victims and the working poor. Health care organizations, animal welfare and rescue groups, and many other worthwhile causes in our community also benefit from ECAP contributions. ECAP is an annual work site fund raiser which allows Pima County employees to contribute to their favorite charity through payroll deductions or a one time donation. Anyone interested in joining the ECAP Committee, should contact Shelley Rose at shelley.rose@pima.gov or 243-6348.
Shelley Rose Appointed to Lead ECAP Steering Committee Please join me in welcoming Shelley Rose, Community Services Department, as the new ECAP Board Chair. Shelley replaces Rosie Joe, who led ECAP for the past 15 years.
Shelley has served four years on the ECAP Steering Committee and has demonstrated an absolute commitment to serve the goals of the committee and is willing to fill in where needed, at any capacity. She is well respected and interacts well with all committee members, member agencies, Pima County departments, and outside organizations. Her experience with the committee is inclusive of spearheading training, production of entertainment, meeting room set up, food and beverage preparation, prop and decoration creation for each of the ECAP events. Shelley was the inspiration of the past year's ECAP Campaign: Go for Gold. Shelley has always gone over and above what is expected of her, volunteering her time and talent to place the needs of the ECAP Committee first. It is with great pleasure that the ECAP Steering Committee welcomes Shelley to her new position as Board Chair. Please join us in congratulating Shelley in her new appointment.
