Background
The purpose of this program is to reduce emissions and to improve
air quality in Pima County. If your vehicle is eligible for the
program, an automotive technician at an authorized garage will
diagnose or test your vehicle. The initial diagnosis determines
whether your vehicle qualifies for repair and/or retrofit kit
installation. If your vehicle can accept a retrofit kit (most
1975-1980 vehicles can), a retrofit kit must be installed.
Additional Information
Vehicle owner is responsible for the first $150 of repairs,
if accepted into the program. Once accepted, Pima County Environmental
Quality will pay up to an additional $550 for emissions related
repairs, or up to an additional $650 for emissions related repairs
and retrofit kit installation.
If the cost estimate to repair or retrofit your vehicle exceeds
these amounts, you will be given the option to pay the additional
money or to withdraw your vehicle from the program. If you chose
to withdraw from the program , you must pay a $50 diagnostic
fee. For more information or questions, call (520) 740-3353.
To be eligible for funding from this program, you must have
your vehicle repaired by one of the repair shops listed below:
