Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) Air Quality Permit
Brush Ceramic Products, Inc. (BCP) is a manufacturing facility located at 6100 South Tucson Boulevard in Tucson, Arizona. BCP is permitted by PDEQ under a Class II stationary source operating permit, Permit Number 1571, for operation of its beryllium ceramic plant and machine shop. The facility's operations are subject to the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPS) for Beryllium
(40 CFR 61, Subparts A and C).

Pima County Department of Environmental Quality Beryllium Monitoring
Network 2007
The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality has established
an air quality monitoring network to measure beryllium levels
in the ambient air throughout the Sunnyside Unified School District.

Brush Ceramic Products, Inc Air Quality Permit Appeal
On December 21, 2006, the Pima County Air Quality Hearing Board held a public hearing to address appeals regarding PDEQ's issuance of the BCP air quality permit renewal, Permit Number 1571. The appeals were submitted by Center for Environmental Connections and Environmental Justice Action Group. As the "Real Party in Interest", representation of BCP was also present at the hearing. The hearing began at 2:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room. After witness testimony was heard, the Air Quality Hearing Board Vice Chairman, Mr. James A. Mather motioned to uphold the permit as it currently exists. The motion was carried 5-0 and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:44 p.m.
