San Pedro Chapel

San Pedro Chapel

Project Description

In May of 2004, the public voted to allow $500,000 be used for work for the historic San Pedro Chapel, located on East Fort Lowell Road (Bond Ordinance No. 2004 – 18 / 4.4 Fort Lowell Acquisition and San Pedro Chapel). The work was to include repairs to the historic San Pedro Chapel (dedicated 1932), upgrades to the Studio building, construction of a new Chapel Support Building, and extensive landscaping.

Under the architectural companies of Burns Wald-Hopkins and Lanning Architecture, the work was completed in the summer of 2008. Durazo Construction was the general contractor for the project. The project area is owned by the non-profit Old Fort Lowell Neighborhood Association (OFLNA) which for decades has been dedicated to preserving the history and character of this distinctive Tucson neighborhood.

The work has resulted in a vastly improved and unique facility that is being enjoyed by the residents and visitors of the Fort Lowell neighborhood.
