The City of Tucson and Pima County have received an funding from the Federal Government to assist qualified low-income, first time homebuyers with downpayment assistance for the purchase of a new or existing home.  The amount of downpayment assistance a family can receive is based on where the home to be purchased is located.

 HAP Area:  Available County-wide/City-wide

  • $5,000.00 in Downpayment Assistance (10 year forgivable, deferred payment loan)

  • $10,000.00 in Downpayment Assistance (2% interest – deferred payment loan)

  • $20,000.00 in Downpayment Assistance, (2% interest – deferred payment loan)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


In order to be eligible for HAP & ADDI Programs, the following criteria must be met:

    • An applicant must be within the following established HUD area median income limits of 80%, which are subject to change, for the family sizes given below:

    • Must be a first time homebuyer, or have not owned a home within the past three years.
    • Must qualify for a mortgage  that meets program standards, see a housing counselor at one of the listed agencies for details.
    • Buyers may not have liquid cash assets exceeding $10,000.00 to participate in ADDI program.
    • Buyers must make a minimum of $1000.00 contribution towards their home.  These funds may be gifted, but not borrowed.
    • Homes purchased must be inspected by an approved home inspector and must meet minimum housing quality standards; all major components must be in good working order with no health/safety hazards present.  A list of approved home inspectors will be provided by your housing counselor
