Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan
Great communities are no accident. They are born out of natural strength
and beauty and their inhabitants have a deep respect for history, culture,
and diversity. Communities are inspired by the vision of residents drawn
to them. They are brought to maturity through hard work and investment.
And they survive because of compromise & consensus. In a sense, they
achieve balance. And such balance is the heart of the Sonoran Desert Conservation
Plan (SDCP).
Pima County is getting better at forecasting and predicting growth.
Our population is exploding, but we have mapped out a vision for our
community with the county’s SDCP. We are able to direct growth
to areas where it is a good place for it to occur. We are seeing less
wildcat subdivisions and more infill where existing infrastructure is
in place. The SDCP will enable Pima County to better manage growth while
balancing our development and conservation needs.
