Imagine Greater Tucson Scenario Building Workshops, May 18-25, 2011

Imagine Greater Tucson invites you to attend a "scenario-building" workshop to share your ideas and help create a regional vision for our future. Here's your chance to help decide the direction we take!

During the public workshop, you will have the opportunity to:

- Suggest locations for future homes and jobs
- Share ideas for urban development
- Recommend open space areas you want preserved

As a workshop participant, you will literally "chip in" to make community decisions. Facilitators will provide game-style chips for attendees to place on a map and create a conversation to help build a new foundation on which to build economic strength and prosperity in our region.

Don't miss this publicly-driven process to guide the greater Tucson region to preserve or enhance the many things we value - access to our great outdoors, urban revitalization, reduced sprawl, minimal time in our cars, and easy access to employment or community activities.

Action-oriented strategies created in these workshops will be considered by Pima County and other jurisdictions as they update or amend their general or comprehensive plans.

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration and the Regional Transportation Authority, is evaluating improvements to Interstate 10 from the Ina Road Traffic Interchange to the Ruthrauff Road Traffic Interchange to provide for future traffic volumes in the year 2040. Subject:   Construction Update – Sunrise Drive Project

Dear Business Merchant:

On behalf of the Pima County Department of Transportation, we would like to “Thank You” again for your patience during construction of the Sunrise Drive: Craycroft Road to Kolb Road project.  The Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor, The Ashton Company, are in the final stages of construction on the Sunrise Project and are anticipating to have the project complete by late November.

This letter is being sent to prepare you for a very important final stage of construction.  Starting on November 1, 2010, the contractor will be applying the final layer of rubberized asphalt to the project area.  This paving work is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 1, 2010, and last through Friday, November 5, 2010, barring any inclement weather.  Each day work will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue through the day until 5:00 p.m.  Due to the extent of this paving process, motorists will experience several traffic shifts along the corridor.  Therefore, flag personnel and Sheriff Deputies will be on hand to direct motorists through the area.  Motorists may also experience substantial traffic delays ranging in wait times of up to 30 minutes.  The Pima County Department of Transportation is highly encouraging motorists to utilize alternate routes during this phase of construction to reduce traffic delays and hazardous conditions through the area.

Businesses in the area will also be impacted by this paving work.  It will be necessary to temporarily close off driveway restrictions and business access throughout the area.  These closures should only last for a short time period during the day and the closure will alternate throughout the day.  Business access will be provided at all times.

Pima County continues to recognize the impacts to area businesses and we will continue to work diligently to further minimize those impacts.

If you have any questions, or need additional information, please contact Julie Simon at (520) 740-6410.  Thank you.

Sincerely,
Sunrise Drive Project Team
