The Los Angeles Times, dated September
30, 1911, was found at a depth of 8 to 10 feet below modern ground
surface in the privy associated with 48 E. Alameda. Conflict
between Italy and Turkey was the headline of the day. Other newspapers
identified within the privy deposits at 48 E. Alameda were the
Arizona Daily Star, the Tucson Citizen, the Los Angeles Examiner,
the El Paso Herald, and the San Francisco Chronicle, all dated
to 1911.
